You can't go wrong knowing how to cook these vegetables that come fresh from the produce section:

  1. Carrots
  2. Onions
  3. Celery
  4. Turnips (awesome roasted)
  5. Parsnips
  6. Spaghetti Squash
  7. Brussels Sprouts (not very frugal)
  8. Cabbage
  9. Sweet potatoes
  10. Spinach (baby for salad)
  11. Cauliflower (for roasting or boiling)
  12. Mustard Greens
  13. Brocolli

Tomatoes:Edit

Don't bother with "fresh" tomatoes from the Grocery - they're never worth it. Either grow your own tomatoes - or get the tomatoes in the can. If you want tomatoes for your burgers - get the stewed whole tomatoes and slice them (so much better). When they're in the can they're packed when they're fresh. When they're shipped as produce they're picked green and rippen on the way. They're usually mealy and tasteless.
